“A dance mix so potent it should carry a warning label.” -Boston Globe

Ilene Stahl's Klezperanto is like a Yiddishkayt nation-state bordered by Colombia, Louisiana, Peru, Brazil, and Romania. Not a bad place to live, right? Her relentless experimentation with funk, cumbia, zydeco, chicha, and Romanian surf rock is something miraculous to behold. Klezperanto is our very own Valley addition to Barbes in the Woods -- a long-time friend of Frank London and a frequent addition to Itzhak Perlman’s ensemble, if she were living in Brooklyn, her band would undoubtedly be playing on 6th Ave. and 9th Street every once in awhile.

What's with the statue?

“José Gregorio has been our mascot and protector for now 10 years,” said Olivier Conan, “Someone stole the bust. We don’t think it’s funny.”
