The Mexican writer Octavio Paz once described surrealism as the encounter between a typewriter and a platypus. He may not have been aware of the Japanese Taishogoto - a mixture of a typewriter and a zither - but would have probably dubbed it the most surrealist of all musical instruments.
Erica Mancini (Gogol Bordello) Quince Marcum (Greek Judas), Sam Harmet (Banda Chuska) and Steve La Rosa play a combination of tenor, baritone and bass Taishogotos while Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) creates a multidimensional accompanying drum soundscape.
We do not know what to call music that doesn’t seem to be of this world (not-world music?) but Snacky creates powerful yet playful trance music. This a new project, come check them out before they become legendary.
